Portus photos

Ok, I don't actually remember tons of details but I'll try to do a Portus recap at some point. Basically it was awesome with a few moments of blah that I quickly got over. Note to self: never travel without digestive biscuits or something. The breakfast offerings at most places are terrible on my stomach.

So, here are some photos:
Zephyr the Cat helps in cape production #1
Zephre the Cat helps in cape production at home, four days before Portus.

The Snarry Meetup + Two Snapes
Snarry Meetup - I've labeled the faces I remember with notes on Flickr. Feel free to add your own notes if you know who's who!

Me, Voldemort, Ven
OMG it's me with Voldemort EEEEEE! (And this Voldemort is also a member of Ministry of Magic, bigger SQUEEEEE!)

My Dark Mark and my badge stuff
My Dark Mark tattoo, my Portus badge with various accoutrements. The badge holder actually acquired more button pins ("I learned about Justice from Umbridge", "I learned about Compassion from Snape" and a Slytherin Prefect) before the end.

"Hermione"
"Hermione" by Fox Estacado, in the Art Auction.

My whole Portus 2008 set, crappy snapshots and all, is right over here.

costumery & Portus

I actually went out and bought this green nightmare fantasia pseudo-medievalish pre-packaged costume for the Masquerade at Portus. It may need some emergency re-tooling, but at least it was relatively cheap and I didn't have to sew that stretch velveteen. Eek. We hates the stretch fabrics, we does. (Although the Magical Mystery Sewing Machine may make that hate disappear, we'll have to try it sometime and see. It sewed a button on my dad's shirt like magic, yo! A button. Fwee!)

Anyhow.
You know what else is annoying? Going to a masquerade wearing glasses. Most masks are right out.

Otherwise, I think I'll be wearing street clothes under my (home-made!) cloak for most of it, and carrying a tote bag of art supplies.

And wearing a bright green snake plushie. Maybe if I drape myself in black some Death Eater cosplayers will mistake me for the Dark Lord and do my bidding. Muahahahaha. Mostly, I expect I will be finding art-related activities or squeeing in mad fangirl glee over Wizard Rockers. (Ministry of Magic is playing! Eeeeee!)

I'll be at the hotel Thursday morning. See some of you lot there.

considering Portus schedules

Who's going?
What are you doing there?

I'm thinking of getting a Saturday day pass and going to the Sunday Post-Portus concert. But maybe I'd take Friday off and go to that, too. Thoughts?
I think some Snarry people were getting together sometime, too.

Is hanging out in the Lobby / Bar / Common Area still happening?  Have laptop and tablet, will draw for fun.

seven songs

Yeah, yeah, everybody's doing it. List seven songs you're really into at the moment.

"Chasing Cars", Snow Patrol (still, yes.)
I don't quite know how to say how I feel. Those three words are said too much. They're not enough.

"Snape vs. Snape", Ministry of Magic
People don't change, people don't change. Once a Death Eater you're always one.

"Gravity", Vienna Teng
These are the scars that silence carved on me.

"We Could Leave Right Now", Oysterband
We could leave right now. We could just walk away. It wouldn't cost a thing. Hardly anyone would see.

"Inama Nushif", Brian Tyler  (special bonus - according to Wikipedia, this song was used in the trailer to Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.  Random!)
The lyrics to this song are actually in Fremen.
Hatt al-hudad (Through the tempest)/Al-maahn al-baiid (be it deluge or sand)
Ay-yah idare (A singular voice)/Adamm malum (speaks through the torrent)

"Basically the Man", The Butterbeer Experience
Because you're basically the man, Neville.  The leader of the rebellion, Neville.

"Perfect Girl", Sarah McLachlan
Am I faithful, am I strong, am I good enough to belong, in your reverie a perfect girl?
