art class: color
Yesterday my Portraiture class met at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston for sketching in the galleries and a lesson on Prismacolors.
Before we were told the assignment, each of us got four random Prismacolor pencils. The only colors we could not choose were black, white, and flesh tones.
We took our four colors and an assigned portrait in the gallery. The rule was, use a color other than the one present. (if something was blue, use yellow, or red, or brown, etc.) It was fun!
I chose as my painting Portrait of a Boy by John Singleton Copley from the Bayou Bend collection. Original and my interpretation under the cut.
