travel, art projects

So I'm leaving for San Diego in the morning and will be incommunicado at a (work-related) conference until Saturday night.
While I'm gone, I shall be sketching and scribbling some of my new ideas for sequential art stories, exchange assignments, etc.  I shall also be pondering the question:

Should I try to get anything in the various upcoming con art shows?

Portus has one, so does Terminus, I believe.  So do mixed-fandom cons including my local ApolloCon.  At the moment most of my finished work is not done at a resolution conducive to prints, but I had the idea of editing a few of the easier-to-fix ones (obviously low-rated), or printing a couple of tarot cards, as well as adjusting some of my future work with print in mind.  I could run them in limited editions with a stamp and a number.

I have never entered a con art show before, so I have no idea what I would be getting into, and I'm not certain I'd want to sell things, although wouldn't it be hilarious if somebody wanted to buy something?

Anybody out there have experience with con shows, or pros/cons to share about the experience of fan artists at shows?

I will not be attending any of the HP cons in person, although I am planning to be in Dallas (possibly at the same hotel) the weekend of Portus, for dinner and socializing when con-goers are outside of scheduled programming. I hope that hanging out at the bar/in the lobby will happen.

Anybody going to Dallas? (I've already heard from a few, of course, or I wouldn't be trekking my butt (and my tablet!) up there.)

it's in the stars

In addition to being Queen of the Universe (pending) due to Total Eclipse of the Heart Moon on my birthday, I get fun times with Harry Potter Astrology:

Slytherin in Pisces )
I think something that the writer is missing here, too, is that Pisces are flexible. That "lack of backbone" and "adaptability" combine to form very tolerant, largely amiable, occasionally fickle folk who are able to slip into many disparate situations and get along. This is a trait that a Slytherin can use to advantage, allowing the normally spacey aspects of Pisces to get a nice grounding in practical networking and alliance-building. These people may not be "leaders" in the loudest and proudest sense, but they often lead from the back, using the webs they've built to quietly influence the course of events. They hint at this in the second-to-last sentence, but let's be real here.

Also, some Pisces (ahem) seriously don't mind tooting their own horn. We might be content to go unnoticed, but I think especially a Slytherin Pisces will have a deep and abiding need for recognition, and may go a bit overboard with the emotional response to said recognition when it comes.

I have to say that I am very grateful for my Ascendant Leo, giving me some backbone and boldness, even if it took me years to learn how to stand up.
