HP Tarot: Ace of Pentacles
A nice card for Thanksgiving.

Helga Hufflepuff stands in a Welsh village circa AD 970, holding a loaf of Imbolg bread and her emblazoned gold cup.
This card represents security, money, work, nature, and magic, and corresponds to the season of winter.

This was a super fun card to research. That is a sod oven to the left, and a longhouse to the right. (I went with that instead of the roundhouse for this card.) I am so so jazzed to do all my Aces now. Each one gets a season and a Sabbat. w00t!

This turned out lovely! The bread, the shading worked out really well! Nice snow on the background, too.
Good job!

thanks for your help - it really is amazing what a difference the shading made!

Nice! I like the broken design of the pentacle on the bread and am very pleased to see that you have the design right-side-up. Nice pin too; I've always wanted one of those!

thank you - I may be imposing a tradition on the early Wizarding community that didn't really exist at that point in history, but using the pentacle in a Wiccan manner for this card seemed appropriate. And the other Aces will echo that pagan Anglo-Saxon (or possibly Picti, I can't remember where all the Founders are from at the moment) feel as much as I can manage.
I ogle those brooch pins at every pagan festival and Renfaire I attend. someday... ;)

ooo, zeph, I really like how it came out! Her expression is so peaceful and I really love her hands.
